ABOUT HAWAII IRISH DANCE
Hawaii Irish Dance is proud to be a member of the Drake School of Irish Dance family. One of the most prestigious Irish Dance Schools in the United States, Drake School of Irish Dance was founded in 1990 in Atlanta by Dublin Ireland native, Karl Drake. Drake Schools have expanded globally with numerous locations throughout the United States as well as Mexico and China. Drake Irish Dancers have a record of competitive achievements to include Regional, National Champions and World Medal holders.
Hawaii Irish Dance is comprised of a diverse group of students, professionals, and friends, brought together by a love of dance, music and Irish culture. We are based on both Oahu and the Big Island and the two groups often practice and perform together. Hawai’i Irish Dance is honored to be a part of the active and thriving Celtic community in Hawai’i, which includes an Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade, an Annual Scottish Festival and several Celtic organizations and pubs who regularly host events.
Some of us began our study of Irish dance elsewhere, while others got started right here in Hawaii. We enjoy performing at all kinds of venues and events around town and around the islands. We are always happy to welcome new additions to our Irish dance family. We encourage people of ages and experience level to come give Irish dance a try. Many of our performing dancers had never danced a step in their life before joining Hawai’i Irish Dance.
